About AUTOMATA
A groundbreaking initiative exploring the historical evolution of autonomous art from mechanical origins to AI-driven futures.
Our Vision
AUTOMATA envisions a world where the rich history of autonomous art is recognized and celebrated, creating a foundation for understanding contemporary AI art within its proper historical context.
We see a future where the boundaries between human and machine creativity are explored thoughtfully, leading to new forms of artistic expression that honor historical precedents while embracing technological innovation.
By 2026, we aim to establish AUTOMATA as the definitive platform for discourse about autonomous art, connecting historical research with cutting-edge practice and fostering collaboration between artists, technologists, and institutions.
Our Mission
To trace and document the evolution of autonomous art from ancient mechanical marvels to contemporary AI systems, creating a comprehensive historical framework for understanding this art form.
To create immersive exhibition experiences that showcase the physical embodiment of autonomous art, moving beyond screen-based presentations to engage all senses.
To foster dialogue between artists, technologists, historians, and the public about the past, present, and future of autonomous creativity.
To develop educational programming that makes the history and practice of autonomous art accessible to diverse audiences.
