Robotlab
2000-present
The artist collective robotlab was founded in 2000 by Matthias Gommel, Martina Haitz and Jan Zappe at the ZKM Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe, Germany. robotlab develops artistic installations and performances with industrial robots which are normally used for industrial production, representing a crucial bridge between early mechanical drawing machines of the 1960s and contemporary AI-driven autonomous art practices. Their work exemplifies the evolution of autonomous art from simple mechanical processes to sophisticated robotic systems capable of complex creative tasks.
